Another one in Texas. 7 dead, 10 injured (updated)

Issue firearms (free of charge) to those that can show competence in their use and storage.

Basic training required for weapons kept in the home.
Advanced training for those that need to carry outside the home.

Must be licensed & insured.

Must be re-certified periodically.

Can't be a felon. And processing firearms outside these restrictions would be a felony.

You know, just well-regulated.

The 2A was never meant for hobbyists who want 100 different styles of firearms. This could also be accommodated, but it would be expensive and require more red-tape, like automatic weapons currently do.

Free firearms would go a long way. Sign me up, of course free isn't free, but the cost would be spread out evenly to those who won't want a gun

The NRA has 120,000 certified instructors ready and willing.

Must be licensed & insured. Make the license included with training.

Must be re-certified periodically.
Send a free box of ammo, although free isn't really free and a box of 9mm range ammo from the government would cost $100

Can't be a felon. And processing firearms outside these restrictions would be a felony.
We have this already

The 2A was never meant for hobbyists who want 100 different styles of firearms Folks who have 100+ firearms are the safest group of gun owners there are. True experts or dealers that take gun ownership seriously.

I'd LOVE to see this happen, but I have to revise on of your comments:
Statement: Can't be a felon. And processing firearms outside these restrictions would be a felony.
'We have this already'

Let me be VERY clear. There are MANY loopholes in the current law. If you made it as transparent and regulated to transfer a gun as we do for a car, there would be almost NO under-the-table firearm sales.

Please stop saying 'we already have that law.' We do NOT. We have a pretend law.

We do not have this already (and who cares if we do?) because we do not have the aforementioned restrictions.

Can a felon possess a firearm? Generally no, you cannot own or possess a firearm if you have been convicted of a felony. This applies even if you have just been charged with a felony and not yet convicted. A firearm is “any weapon, including a starter gun, which will or is designed to or may readily be converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive, or its frame or receiver, or any firearm muffler or firearm silencer.” If you violate this law, you will be punished with a Class G felony.

You can read all about it here: Gun Laws of Australia (wikipedia).

You can't summarize your own thoughts? It can't be more than a few sentences to do so. Why are you unwilling to just flat-out state what you are advocating for?
You can’t follow a link and read? They have a many-faceted approach, and I’m sorry if I’m not enthusiasic about putting the time into re-summarizing for someone I think is likely to reject them anyway.

Here’s a summarization of my feelings: Fewer guns sold. Fewer guns in our country. Fewer people carrying them. Fewer gun deaths.

You wanted specifics; I refer you to my link for a general blueprint of how a peer country has acheived these goals.
