When I was a kid in a body shop the old timers used to sell me about filling dents and holes with lead. And how they'd taste the lead to make sure the mix was right as it cooled.

I remember my grandfather sitting in the living room with prints on his lap, retouching the prints with tiny brushes and solution. He was a wedding photographer and would then put the prints (B & W) into albums.
