Weird; overnight got a notification that "iPhone" was using my Apple ID and FaceTime...

... I haven't signed in with any new devices, so is this a hack?

I get those alerts after every OS update on my iPhone or iPad.

Except that I haven't done any OS update. I just tried signing into iCloud, and I don't see any new devices there though.

Possible you have automated updates on?

iOS 17.2 just came out. Automated updates usually lag a few days after the release. The timing is right.

I get those if a device goes “dead”—as in, I forgot to charge it and the battery went to zero. When I plug it in and recharge, I will sometimes get those. I don’t know why precisely, but as the name corresponds with a known device I’ve not done anything about it.

Somehow a family member's device absorbed my name for AirDrop and we can't get it out; but this produced a similar alert at the time about AppleID.
