Connected to Wi-Fi router but don't see MAC address
#1
I'm trying to get control of various household devices connected to our Motorola MG8702 router.

I'm logged into the router, but I don't see the shown MAC addresses of two devices I am certain are connected.

What might I be missing?

Thanks!

Is it possible these devices are connected at the other frequency (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz)

Thanks, but I checked the tabs for both frequencies. Devices do not appear in either freq.

I had something like that occur with my Asus router a few weeks ago.

I go in and label devices every few months to help with potential troubleshooting later. Devices are IDd by MAC address.

A couple of devices that I knew were online did not show up in the list of DHCP assignments. When I power-cycled the devices, they rejoined the network, but still didn't show up. I'm confident that if I had access to the real ARP tables they'd be there, but was stuck with the GUI they gave me.

So, I tried making new DHCP reservations (static assignments) for them based on the MAC addresses that they had on their labels.

And after the next refresh, they appeared on the list.

Newer Apple iOS devices have a privacy mode that gives a different MAC address than the device's hardware MAC address. This mode is on by default but you can turn it off.
