Mac Book Pro 1.83 vs, 2.00
#1
Recently sold my iBook 1.42 and need a new laptop.

Looking at the refurbs on Apple at the Mac Book Pros and was wondering is there much difference between the two other than the speed bump. How about the mac books? good option?

Basic needs, writing, some keynote/imovie/idvd stuff, light photoshop and indesign.

Any reccomdations?

thanks.

Get the 2.0. It's got 2x the VRAM, which is needed for decent 1080 HD viewing. I've got the 1.83 and it just coughs and hicups. 2.0 also gives you "20GB" more HD space. Honestly though you should try and catch the C2D machines when they come on line in the A.M.

Do not get either, get a Core 2 Duo machine if you can afford it. They run cooler and are 64 bit clean.

If you search the forum, there was a thread on this exact same question just a few days ago. It will likely be helpful. If the 1.83 was the FIRST MBP, I would steer away from it for that fact alone. Sorry I'm unsure of what the first model was.

If thats true then Apple's website is wrong.

You won't notice a price difference between 1.83 and 2.0Ghz machines but I'd consider paying a little more for a Core 2 Duo machine.
