I'm surprised that we don't see more cellular interconnect outages like this. It's complicated and a long effort to have of these companies coordinate and make it work. After all, roam wasn't built in a day.

Yup, this is affecting my wife right now (and practically everyone in the group she's traveling with). I tried to direct her to install an international eSIM for data, but that just ended up causes all sorts of issues with iMessage. First it logged her out and now it looks like we got her logged back in, but all the numbers got a +1 added to them, which means they don't match up with the address book numbers, so everyone she's been chatting with recently shows up as a phone number instead of the contact name. (Why, Apple, why can't you figure out that a US number and that number with +1 are the same!?!?!)
