Very impressive!

I once watched a guy bring in his small sailboat (maybe 17" or so). He brought the sail down and then rocked it back and forth coming into the dock where he just kissed the bumper. Very impressive to watch. I've docked under sail one time (forced to) and it was a pretty simple docking. Still, I was proud to have done it. This video is a different level.

There are systems that use GPS to dock. I believe the dock/slip needs to be properly equipped for that as well.

This boat (probably) just had bow & stern thrusters and an experienced captain. At least I hope a 180 foot boat has all those things.

Also, that was sped up a lot. They key to docking is go slow. Very slow. Don't go faster than you're willing to hit something at.

I back my 40 footer into it's slip at the lake. I don't (usually) have to deal with wind and lots of boats zipping around like that.

There was also a pilot boat, checking clearances and such. It’s that little knat at the bow of the ship that seems to buzz around from one side to the other.

Large ship crashing into smaller boat equals big mess that will shut the harbor, or at least a part of the harbor, down until the mess is cleared. And the insurance headaches! No one wants to be banned from the harbor because you can’t drive the boat.
