I had no idea that this was a black art. 

I want a Roman shade, linen, with cord.

Besides being $200+, they are difficult to find.

I think a friend mentioned that SelectBlinds, online had Roman shades

I recently did all the windows in 2 rooms of the apt.

I used two companies -
https://www.blindschalet.com
https://www.blinds.com

My purchases were based on sample choices, since I was looking for wooden roman shades of specific types and colors. Also wanted continuous loop for the cord. Not all companies offered it.

Linen should be much easier to do. All these companies send samples for free. I would get samples, even as just a way to see what each place is like to deal with.

Shades vs blinds is x5 the cost.
