An engineer friend of mine sneers down at me because every other year he builds his own PC. I sneer back because he cannot build a Mac and have a real computer.

get the Dell and get the extended warranty and be done with it.
It is a business expense, and a business tool, don't screw around. If their grief at any downtime can be directed at you, do you want that? Dell has a consumer line and a business line, right? Get the more robust one.

Thanks everyone for the info. I will, again, push the Dell purchase. If she still refuses then I will give her the list of components she should expect from a $1000 custom-built WinTel box.
She's a good friend of our family but, HELL NO, I ain't gonna devote to her sole tech support; you Macresource people will ![]() Actually, she's pretty good about calling up the vendors for tech support. |
