I have had good success fixing the iBooks with bad video and now wish that I had bought more of them. If you have one or more that you would like to sell I would be willing to buy them for what you paid (including your shipping costs) plus I will pay for shipping to me in zip 90740.
Please PM me if you are interested and let me know what you have.

Any more pointers you can give for fixing dead video iBooks?
I purchased a heat gun and a non-contact infrared thermometer and have a couple to fix.

I don't have one for you, but you COULD offer the person sending you one a *small nibble* of the profit you'd make, no? Contingent upon success fixing the thing?

Point well taken. How big is a nibble?
As much as I wanted to keep one of them the two I fixed went to paying my rent for April as my wife has been out of work since September...
I have one more iBook ( non-SDG) that I got from finn here on the list, that turned out to have more than 1 board level problem, that will be going to one of my boys as a birthday gift if I can gather up the missing pieces in time.

I don't know. I think it's fair enough that he's offering to pay the person what they paid for a dead (to them) iBook. He has to do the work and there's no guarantee that it will come back to life.

[quote Harbourmaster]I suppose that I could also offer to do this for a fee, as a service for anyone that didn't have the tools or want to take a chance on trying it themselves?
A commercial repair service charges $50 for this but you have to strip the iBook and send them the bare logic board.

That was the other suggestion I was going to make--it might get less difficult for you with each pass, but the significant value added is the same for each 'customer.'

I missed the dead iBooks, does anyone have a upper case with trackpad they could sell? The trackpad in my iBook died and it looks like all the upper cases are similar.
