Favorite high-end audio forum?
#1
I just bought my first pair of electrostatic speakers and I have a bunch of questions - such as: do I leave them powered up 24/7?

Any good forums with members who tolerate audio neophytes?

Sorry, but I don't really understand the purchase, if you have questions like this.

Was it simply too good a deal to pass up . . . and how would you know it?

Many review sites available for you to do your homework ahead of time . . . I simply don't understand one who buys first and then asks the questions . . .

my bad . . .

WHiiP. Sorry you don't understand and feel the need to voice your frustration. I'll explain, slowly:

Acoustat speakers are esoteric, rare, and highly regarded. The company no longer exists. There is a dearth of info about their products. There was an ad on craiglist offering the speakers for a very good price relative to other ads I had seen for this model. Sometimes, when a single item is for sale and several people are making offers to buy it, you have to strike while the iron is hot.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

JoeM and Mr645, thanks for the helpful links.

Here's another link: http://forum.stereophile.com/forum/ubbthreads.php

I've never visited their forums, but that place is probably as "high-end" as you will find.

There magazine often has writers extolling the virtues of $300/ft interconnect cables and such.

And the minutia in the reviews can give one a good migraine.

Enjoy.

The only audio forum I ever bother with- http://www.pesupport.com/cgi-bin/config.pl

The group is relatively small which sometimes means nobody has an answer to your questions, but more often you'll get a great variety of opinions and there are very few topics that get passed by.

I know there are a few fans of electrostats on that forum too, so I'm pretty sure you'll get some good advice.

EDIT: fixed link

The forum at audiogon.com is pretty decent, as far as the people. Not a fan of the software though. kj.
