I've had it for 4-5 years. yes, the knob is high and rough on the fingers, but I keep it plugged into a socket connected to the switch. You can use 2 way incandescent bulbs if you want, but I installed a a CFL in mine. I wish someone made 2 way CFL bulbs though. Not bad for 5 bucks.

How about three way?
Only if Newton consents.
Otherwise, I'm signed up for the notification
This CFL probably needs a three-way lamp, right?

I own this exact lamp and I'd like to make a couple observations before you fools commence to running. Firstly, this is the only lamp I've ever seen that specifically warns that it requires a 3 way bulb and that there is a risk of damage to the lamp, which can lead to fire, with other bulb types. Although the lamp is very inexpensive and works fine for the base purpose of illuminating your space, the quality of light produced is a little harsh; this is the direct result of the shade being a thin, crappy piece of plastic that doesn't do much to diffuse glare. You may want to purchase a replacement shade.

Awesome! I have wanted some of these cheap for indirect lighting in the TV room with 3 way lights, like a 15/45/100 or some such bulb, or if one way bulb, a 15 watt appliance bulb would work.
