yet another reason to use the bank's electronic bill paying. Atleast this way, I know what day the transfer occurred.

Oddly enough, I can pay my city's water bill this way - but not my property taxes.

I use this for most things - but we got bit a few years ago. We had sent our water bill to our city (Dedham, Mass.). They claimed they never got it, but the bank showed it as sent and cashed. But the burden was on me to prove it. It was a nightmare getting the bank to help -they initiated an "investigation", etc. and charged me for a copy of the check. It took months for it to get resolved, and I ended up spending hours on the phone and writing several long letters just to get it resolved. What a pain.

Bummer. I was working under the impression that having the bank on your side would tip the balance.

Still, if you paid for and had a copy of the cashed check, why was that not good enough for the water department?
