Would this device let me stream internet radio to my stereo through an old Powermac 9600 (0S 9.2.2 and iTunes 1.0.1 installed)?

This will give your 9600 wireless connectivity. Getting the music from the WiFi to the stereo is another matter. If you have an Airport Express to capture the music stream from the wireless network then the answer would be yes.
