After the reports last week that Apple had discontinued Appleworks, I checked the on-line store. I found I could place an order for the educational Mac/Windows version through the educational store for $39. Since it said 2-4 weeks for shipment, I was not sure it would come, so did not mention it then. Just got a shipment message, so it looks like Apple will fulfill orders for a while longer. Mostly got it since my install disk was scratched and could not find the backup copy yet. But maybe this information will be useful to someone else who still uses AW.

Ah, Claris. A fine, fine program in its day. Reminds me of when you didn't need 2 gigs of RAM to type a letter. WriteNow also comes to mind. The whole program could fit on a single floppy.

You didn't call Apple for a replacement? Old CD + $9.95 and you get a replacement.
Did it last fall with iLife '06.

It was also at my sons mother's house 275 miles away in Maine. Inconvenient for getting it replaced, even if I could read it to see which version 6 disk it had been. Former friend of the boys messed the disk up badly, and for $39 I will happily forego the search at home to find the backup disk copy that is not in one of the obvious locations at home. Trials of supporting computers at widely spaced locations.
