"Lost" via iTms

I think the cube will play nice. Since I don't own one though, I can't be sure.

Altivec enhanced is up to 7x faster than same MHz G3.

128 bit wide, so no waiting.

That is a massive difference vs 64 bit material being broken in half. Although I've not tried any video of substance on my G4/450 (it's unplugged) since they started offering iTMS stuff, if it is like MPEG, I don't have any trouble playing all but the largest windows of it.

A Cube 450 should still be up to 2x faster than the 900MHz G3.

Overall MacBench showed a 450 to 900MHz (G4's) jump was a 40% improvement in base score. I would think that HD speed would not be a major issue here.

FWIW, i could play itunes TV shows on my iBook G3/800 ... before upgrade to itunes 6.02. not since (and not through quicktime either, which i tried).

Todd, what do you mean exactly when you say you could play them before but not after? Talking about the same problem I described?

It does play smoothly on the cube/450 (also 256 of RAM). iT 6.01.
Here's a quick (5 MB) clip to give a sense of the quality:

Also plays nicely on the G4/1.25, iT 6.01.
I'm updating the cube to iT 6.02 to see if anything changes.

I was ready to buy the Altivech theory but along comes Todd and says they played on his iB G3/800.

WTF is up w/ that smiley with the sunglasses?

h', that's the lousy smiley system here -- some things which shouldn't be smileys get turned into them.

In this case, it was the "B )" (without space)
