Can i force my Canon 9900i to print in black w/o a red cartridge?

I doubt it, I never have gotten a Canon or a HP to print without all cartridges in working order.

I have a Canon i960. Black ink was EMPTY. Tried to print some text, no go.

Then, I selected all the text and made it BLUE. That was in TextEdit I believe. I hit Print, and voila, it prints. No big deal, it was juts a shopping list, I didn't care whether it was black or blue Guess what was on the shopping list? I black cartridge!
