Question for OWC Harry, Barry and Mary (and/or Jamie)
#1
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/ElGato/10020211R/

Listing says this works with 10.3.9.
Product blurbie says 10.4 is required.
Important distinction for me since I hope to skip 10.4 and go right to 10.5.9 eventually.
Also, does the USB 2.0 port have to be native, or can it be PCI?
Thanks mucho.

Never mind, I see it doesn't have RCA ins, no use to me, sorry to bother you.

Is this unit obsolete once Feb 09 comes around?

Will it require some kind of upgrade box even from Cable, for an
"HDTV Compatible" signal?

My knowledge on video at the moment is pretty low, but I expect a routine cram session in the near future, just not today. Today I'm cramming turkey.

(the normal way.....!)

(the normal way.....!) OTA? It will be dead.
Cable it will be fine, cable has been converting their digital signal to analog for years.

It does come with the breakout cable for RCAs. It will be obsolete in 2009 for tuning Analog OTA TV - but still A-OK for Audio/video from cable boxes, VCRs, anything with Audio and S-Video or Composite video ports.

The current software MIGHT require 10.4 or later... whereas when originally shipped it did not. We'll get that contradiction corrected tomorrow so that the actual OS requirement is delayed.

LOL on the question for. Smile

Happy Thanksgiving!

C'mon, 10.3.9 to 10.4 is only a difference of .01, right? Why shouldn't it work?

Thanks!
Was most interested presently in use to bring a (security) camera into a mac.
PCI USB is OK?
