another ebay question
#1
I'm about to list an item on eBay. I also have it listed on the local Craigslist. My eBay Buy It Now price is pretty much my Craigslist price. Is it okay to note in my eBay listing something to the effect that "I reserve the right to end the listing early as the item is also being advertised locally"? Or is that an eBay no-no?

You can always end the auction early, just don't put that in your listing or you might not get any bidders. Why bother if it could be all for naught.
Ebay doesn't care if you end the listing early, they have your money for the listing. I just wouldn't tell them that you sold it on Craigslist instead. Just say that it is no longer available. You are not avoiding eBay fees as long as the sale was made through te efforts of your listing on eBay. Their TOS doesn't say anything about your listing being exclusive to eBay, only that if you complete the auction with a sale, then you owe them money.

Thanks. That's a good idea. But what if it gets a bid quickly? Do I just cancel the bids and end the auction early? I don't anticipate all this happening, but you never know...

Yes, it is possible to cancel all bids and end a listing early. However, keep in mind that listings CANNOT be ended in the final 12 hours.

Never mind. I listed it at 21:50 (EST) and just received an email that someone used Buy It Now and grabbed it at 22:21 (EST). Sometimes eBay can be great. Smile

The suspense is killing me.

What did you sell?

Smile Nothing really exciting. It was a piece of audio gear; an Alesis 3630 compressor/limiter.
