Mail in Leopard Won't Shut Down
#1
Intermittent problem with Mail in Leopard 10.5.1.

For instance, say I choose shutdown and the OS dutifully starts closing all my running apps. It closes Mail, but I'll get a dialogue message saying "shutdown has been canceled because Mail failed to shutdown" or something like that.

So, then, I will go to Mail, tell it to "quit"--It quits, but then automatically starts up again. I can even force quit it and it starts up again.

To shutdown the computer, I have to hold the power button.

As for Mail, I have no pending messages in the outbox.

Anyone seen this? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Bryan

Never heard of this one. But....I believe in Onyx (as well as other maintenance utilities) there is an option to "rebuild Mail envelope" or some such. Worth a try....

I assume you have repaired permissions? Verified disk structure?

Mail is definitely flakier in 10.5 (and 10.5.1) than 10.4 on my machine. I had to force quit it just last night. Restarted, and everything was ok again, tho.
