FreeAgent Pro 500GB USB/eSATA/FireWire Hard Drive-why OS 10.3.9 or better?

I'm wondering why you need 10.3.9 or better - this wouldn't work with 10.3.5? Is it some included software that requires it?

The drive is plug n' play as all ext drive are. You just won't get the notification lights i.e, when it's reading and when it's writing.

They have Windows software bloated onto them, I don't recall there being any Mac software, but I wouldn't know, as my daughter's fiancee formatted it before I could look at it (silly person...)

Just a guess on the 10.3.9 requirement, I think it has to do with a version of the OS that has built in support for a motherboard with SATA ports.

That seems to make sense then. Just realized it is 8MB buffer. Maybe I'll look for 16MB buffer - it's for audio work.

Thanks, all.
