Will Tata say ta ta? How "on earth" will Tata Motors (TTM) turn a profit from Ford's Jaguar and Land Rover units, considering Ford lost big money on the former and failed to succeed with the latter? Some guess it might sell off valuable UK properties, close the factories, and move operations to India.
How will this effect the "design" I wonder. The Indians are very good craftsmen but it could change the face of the Jaguar and Land Rover (less here probably) forever.

I bet the Indians have a better grasp of the cultural issues that made Jaguar and Land Rover successful than Ford ever did. The colonized always know more about the colonizers than the colonizers know about the colonized, IMHO.

It won't be easy, and in the end, they might not succeed. I could see Land Rover surviving in some form, while Jaguar fades away.
One thing is for sure, the pair is in far better hands with Tata than it would be with a private equity firm.

Ahhh, the US WAS a colony, remember?
Jag and Land Rover were already past their prime and going nowhere when Ford bought them. Only Ford was unable to do was completely turn them around, though Rover sales did increase.

Jag is betting the bank on the new XF.
I test drove one last week. WOW. It is quite a vehicle.
Jag says they have 10000 per sold. It was released March 10th.
Question is will Jag survive long enough to get the new designs into the market place.
