I just saw this quote in the New York Times about the meeting Congressional leaders had with Paulson and Bernanke on the economic meltdown. I loved this line:

"Lawmakers in both parties described the meeting in Ms. Pelosi’s office on Thursday night with Mr. Paulson and Mr. Bernanke as collaborative, and that they were prepared to put politics aside to address the needs of the American people."

That last phrase is a crack-up, I thought that's what they were supposed to do every day.

Kind of not too ridiculous in context, as currently it's hard to view anything anyone says or does at face value rather than being part of a campaign strategy.
