I thought The Grudge was especially scary. The Mist was good, and how about the original The Fog?

How about 30 Days of Night, The Exorcist, The Ring (kinda horror mystery combined), Pulse, 1408 was pretty good, Identity was a good thriller, 13 Ghosts, Ghost Ship, I Am Legend.

Those voices coming from the snowy tv screen in Poltergeist always freaked me out.

But the scariest movie I ever saw was Prince Of Darkness. Especially the part when they break the mirror and the guy disappears in darkness as he's reaching for the mirror to escape. I had to immediately turn on all the lights in my house. I never watched the movie again.

'Almost forgot this one:

Mister Frost

It's sort of a crossover between a psychological thriller and a regular horror movie... Because of that, it tends to scar people more deeply than the typical gore-flick. Otherwise skeptical adults have been known to have nightmares from it.
