Trying to fix iBook G3 and donate to a good cause...help?
#1
I have an iBook G3 that I'm thinking about trying to fix and donate to a family that's being helped by SafePlace in Austin, a local charity that helps women in abusive situations.

My local glass studio has adopted the family, and we're trying to get some items together for their wish list.

This iBook has been sitting on a shelf for awhile. I'm looking for a power supply, a replacement latch, and I've been told that there may be a problem with the ribbon cable that connects the LCD screen to the logic board.

Does anybody have parts laying around that they might be willing to donate? I'm currently unemployed, and can't afford the repair, but thought that there might be strength in numbers and that with a little help we could get this thing working and in the hands of someone who might benefit from it.

Here's a link with more info on the family... http://www.heliosglass.com/safeplace_2008.htm

Thanks, all...Kat

i have a lid with a broken LCD that probably has a good ribbon cable in it. you can have it.

edit: i won't be home where the part is until wednesday night, so no rush shipping is possible.

That would be awesome...if you have the lid, does it still have the latch on it? The latch broke on mine, so I'm trying to find one of those...

I'd be willing to help with shipping!

Here's another random request...I know the batteries might not be any good, either. If anyone has a battery that might still have some juice in it, that might be helpful!

I'm thinking the family could use it even just plugged in. I know in these situations the woman takes very little with her...I think they'd be thankful for just about anything.
