Remote login service for 'Mom' tech support?
#1
I need one of those services that allow a son to have Mom log on to a site and share her desktop with me. Like 'Share my Desktop,' but current.

She's still on Tiger, so I think iChat screen sharing is out for now.
As is giving her port-forwarding instructions for VNC over the phone.

TIA

Up until recently I would have recommended Bosco's Screenshare - a freeware remote login that is cross platform. However I have begun to use the free version of logmein.com and have been impressed. It is cross platform and easy to set up for both parties. It doesn't require port forwarding like some other solutions. For the occasional remote tech support, I think it works great.

This is what I use daily with my clients:

It works great with Macs or PC (PC users have to download a small app).

Can't make head or tail out of it.
Is it safe for the person sharing? Sounds like everything passes through their servers?
Is it free?

logmein definitely. It's very simple to use.

Downside--you can't copy and transfer files unless you pay the fee, which is 35 bucks or so.
