It can't cost $13 million a year to run a PBS station, can it?

I saw a banner on KERA of Dallas during pledge week that they spent $36,000 a day to operate. They show basically the same shows that podunk AETN in Arkansas shows and there's no way the Arkansas station can raise anywhere close to that much money. I'm guessing it was a misprint.

That sounds about right, give or take a couple of million.

I believe the rates that the stations pay to the network is (at least partially) based on the viewership. So Dallas would pay more than a station in Arkansas.
