... this thing actually seems to run faster under 10.5.6 than it did under 10.4.11 ... go figure

At least, everything feels "snappier"...

Of course, I knew there had to be some catch-- I just discovered what it is: http://iuseapple.com/blog/mac-specific/g...g-overdue/ ... ugh.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I meet the sys requirements... also, I would want something that provides video in, not just ATSC tuning...

Why not get an actual Hybrid - Elgato factory refurb for $67.99 - that comes with the full EyeTV software?

Remember, I don't have a built-in USB2.0 port, and also would need video in-- not clear that the Hybrid has that?

huh, i wonder why it specifies a built in usb 2.0 port. maybe another forum member can weigh in?

otherwise it does do video in via composite and s-video.

matt, if it matters-- of course I have USB2.0 on this machine, but it's not built-in...

Also, I'm curious about how well these things work with USB2.0, my experience has been that it's "bursty", and Firewire is far more reliable vis-a-vis transfer speeds...

i have one and it works quite well. my only caution is that it specifies a built in usb port. then again, thats probably because they don't want to claim to support every third part usb card out there.

then again, i only watch and never record.

I am using an EyeTV hybrid mostly happily on a powered external USB hub. I generally need to restart the software once or twice to get the dongle to wake up, and occasionally I need to unplug and replug it as well. Works beautifully when it works.
Similar deal with the software though--CW says avoid EyeTV 3 and stick with EyeTV 2.
