BAD toothache. Very bad. Do not want !
Busted the molar in half, and now it's infected. Appointment tomorrow with the oral surgeon to remove the busted part. (not enough to grab onto with pliers, sez my dentist).

I'd forgotten how much a toothache can hurt- my head is one ball of agony from the neck to the top of my head. Going to get more antibiotics now. At least I can hold snow to my face to dull the pains.

And now I understand how effective the torture technique was in the film "Marathon Man" .

Can you go see the nurse or someone at the office to get a prescription for narcotics? It seems to me that a few days of Percocet would be warranted.

We consider pain to be a medical emergency. We teach the residents at our hospital to treat pain as aggressively as any other medical problem. It doesn't seem that you should have to suffer with so many good options out there...

But seriously, take something today for the pain. No reason to be extra miserable before they even take it out.

Yeah, take an Advil, and then an acetaminophen maybe 4 hours later--the alternating bit gives better pain killing.

Better still, go to the oral surgeon RIGHT NOW and get something more powerful.

I have a few generic Hydrocodone that my daughter had left over from having her wisdom teeth out a couple of weeks ago, but I don't think you live close enough for that to do you much good.

I'm not sure which is worse, toothache or kidney stone. But I know that taking Advil and the like are like peeing on a forest fire with this kind of pain. You need big guns here and only your Doctor is going to help you. Several years ago I remember a toothache like cbelt3 is going through and I ate a bunch (10 or 12) of ibuprofen and about a third of a bottle of scotch (I think it was just Dewars cuz I wouldn't waste a good 12 year old single malt on a toothache duhhh!) and I still ended up at the ER begging for relief. They gave me 3 pills the size of sewer covers and said "just one!"... so I took 2. Well they were right, just one would have done the trick but hey, that's why they go to school all those years!

Survived so far- appointment is at 2 today. Note- write a letter to the Orajel people- love that benzocaine.... It comes in waves as pressure builds up, and then is relieved. That and an ice pack on the side of my jaw next to the tooth keeps the nerves quiescent.. ish.

So, you are almost Comfortably Numb ?
