Zune sales are struggling
24 January 2009 14:45 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz |

According to Q4 2008 filings with the SEC, Microsoft Zune revenue has fallen over $100 million USD year-on-year from 2007, confirming that Zune sales continue to struggle mightily.

The rest of the division, Microsoft Entertainment and Devices, brought in $151 million USD profit, on the back of strong Xbox 360 sales.

The revenue number represents a a 54 percent drop year on year, and has led analysts to believe that the device may be on its way out, despite the recent release of 3rd generation flash models.

To date there have only been 3.2 million Zune units sold compared to Apple's 170 million iPod sales.

When you read this article of the failure of the ZUNE and then drop down and read the comments by ZUNE owners there is nothing but "I wouldn't own an iPOD" "they are great"etc etc. (Paraphrased)

Just the style is a turnoff. I just don't see how the comments can be so good for the ZUNE and especially since the iPOD is MSFT friendly. Guess there are a lot of people out there that like baby diaper brown or pea green.

Most all actual Zune users/owners love the device and enjoy it...the problem is Apple has such a foothold in the market and the iPod branding is so strong that it is too difficult for it (or any other) to gain any ground.
