Photoshop Guru Help Needed, Please
#1
Hi Friends,

Working on a cool PS web tutorial and it worked as promised. Here is the site link: http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo...ght-burst/

This tutorial is done at 640x480, 72 dpi.

I want to make a larger, higher-rez version for print and silkscreen output. When I tried the tutorial with PS set at 300 dpi and 15" pages size, the effect did not work as shown. In particular, I had trouble with the "wind" application in steps 14-16: http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo...page-5.php

Perhaps, due to the higher rez, the wind filter did not distort the text as shown in the tutorial. It was much less pronounced. Repeated applications of "wind" did not salvage the effect.

Can anyone help me attain this tutorial effect at higher resolution?

Hope I've been clear enough here. Don't hesitate to ask for clarification.

Thank you.

You will need to increase the amount of effect due to the higher rez.

Essentially there are more pixels per inch at 300dpi than at 72dpi, so if you set the filter for a 10 pixel feather t will have a greater effewct at 72 than 300.

A simple way of seeing this is to open two images, one at 72dpi, the other at 300 dpi. select a paintbrush and look at the are it effects on the 72dpi image, then do the same to the 300dpi. The paintbrush will affet the 72 to a greater degree than the 300.

Thanks for the tip. I did try using the blast and stagger parameters within the wind filter, but it did not produce the desired effect. There is no other control within the wind filter...

Just a word of caution, what you are doing can produce very poor results for screen printing, especially if you are printing onto fabric.

No matter how high you set the resolution, you can't add pixels that aren't there to begin with. So, even though the image looks decent on your computer screen, you may be very disappointed when you see the screenprint.
