124MB 10.4.5 download fails 10X
#1
If I leave it running overnight my isp inevitably hangs up on me. Restarting the dl starts at the beginning again. I've done this at least ten times. Does Apple offer this on a cd? Any other way to get this update? Why can't they break these huge updates into small bites?

If you use an app like Wired or Carracho, assuming you can find a server that has this update on it, these apps will allow you to resume a download that was interrupted.

Single updates tend to be smaller than combo updaters, which are you trying to get?

What speed is your connection anyway?

I'm running 10.4.3 and all Software Update offers is the 10.4.5 update.

When I was traveling, sometimes I would go to an Apple store and burn a cd of the download.
No one ever minded.
If that doesn't work, I would be glad to burn a cd and drop it in the mail for you.

you might be able to get the 10.4.4 update first, then 10.4.5 separately if you go to apple.com/support

45Kbps huh, sorry to hear.

If you still have problems I bet someone here would be willing to send you a disc or something.

For the three people in the country left with a shell account, I used to download these to a temporary space on ISP via FTP.

This would take only a few minutes. Then download from ISP servers.

Are you using a download tool? I used to use iGetter and that can resume, etc.

Otherwise a memory stick and an Apple Store are good ideas.

Sounds like you are trying to download the Combo updated. The Delta updaters are usually smaller.

The closest Apple store is a three hour drive. I'll try to get a friend with broadband to dl it to disk for me. Thanks for all the kind offers. I wish Mac magazine cd's still had updaters.
My latest attempt was knocked off line at about 50 megs complete, so I may try politely ringing my isp's neck.
I'll try iGetter next.
