It should be a joyous occasion that makes the participants happy.

As such, there's a whole range of "right" ways to do a wedding.

Why even bother spending all that money in buying matching bridesmaid dresses that you'll probably only wear once, shoes, tux rentals/purchases, etc.,? Just prance down the church aisle wearing whatever's nice in the closet with sneakers and flipflops. It's all about the bride and groom being happy right?

I guess if the bride and groom paid for it themselves they can do whatever the heck they want. It's their money. It's their reception. If the parents paid for it... that might be another matter.
