How big do you think that market is for iPhones in China?

Too little or too much?
You have to keep in mind that in places like China (and Japan), space is a super-premium and not everyone has computers in the home simply because of that. For many, cell phones are the 'computers' and are their only key to the Internet and what it has to offer.

Didn't someone in China pay thousands for an iPhone when they first came out? And it didn't even work properly?
5 million phones will supply 0.5% of the population. I would think that would last opening day.

Like the US, the market there is fragmented with different, incompatible network technologies. The not only have GSM/UMTS and CDMA, but their own, home-grown,(and from what I've heard pretty bad) TDSCDMA. So only one out of three major operators will be able to sell a 3G iPhone.
