Great analysis on the death of newspapers
#11
Wired had a teaser on the front page of one of their recent issues about Craigslist being the death of newspapers. So what was their article really about? It was about how Craigslist could improve their site. A number of web designers submitted designs that would make Craigslist easier to use.

Absolutely.

Based on reader feedback our city paper now carries local news front page (not AP feeds)

It is down to 2 sections (usually 26 pages total) 4 days/week, though.

And I expect that will soon be the norm 6 days/week.

I see newspapers surviving, but smaller and leaner, more local, and more effectively interfaced with other media forms.

Wait until C/L or some other internet site gets certified to carry legal ads, that'll kill off half the remaining print circulation.

Though nothing is stopping the L.A. Times, for example from making their own easy to use classifieds to rival Craig.
