Google sails out of The Pirate Bay...
#1
File-sharing site The Pirate Bay is once again in the crosshairs of copyright owners. Google has removed the site’s home page from its search results in response to a complaint it received under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

I just did a search on "pirate bay", and it showed up right at the top of the search results.

Yeah, as of this moment they've only removed 8 results. The rest are still there. The home page doesn't show up, but does anyone really care?

For example http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=mac+os+x+10.6+torrent&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

I thought that site had been shut down, but it appears to still be going strong.

It was all a mistake... keep walking, nothing to see here.

Google said on Friday that an error caused the search engine to remove The Pirate Bay from its search pages.

"Google received a (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) take-down request that erroneously listed Thepiratebay.org, and as a result, this URL was accidentally removed from the Google search index," Google said in a statement. "We are now correcting the removal, and you can expect to see Thepiratebay.org back in Google search results this afternoon."
Later, Google updated it's statement: "The removal appears to be an internal error and not part of a DMCA request."
