iWeb makes file sizes huge!!
#1
So, I've noticed when my iWeb site loads that it seems awful slow. So I check things out - and iWeb turns photos/pics from 35KB jpegs to 350KB PNGs! I know PNG is the new thing and looks really nice - but for a 400x400 pic to be 350KB is not really "optimizing" for the web now is it?

Not that I'm upset about it. Just something I noticed.

I hope they address that failing in a free update. The world does not need more bloated websites.

That's strange, but this Macworld review talks about iWeb 1.01 improving the file size issue by generating jpeg rather than PNG images, but you are already using 1.01, aren't you?

Nah. iWeb is MUCH cooler, classier than FrontPage. Yeah it's really basic, etc - but it's supposed to be. Plus I think it's cool - even though I do know how to code and use Dreanweaver, etc.

Yeah I'm using 1.0.1. It turns all of my jpegs into PNGs.

Ohhh wait-- I've used reflection/shadow effect a lot on my pics - and the article says iWeb converts most images to jpeg EXCEPT those that have reflection, shadow, etc.
