Bing cashback - experiences?
#1
I saaw a post the other day RE Bing here. Tried my first Bing cashback deal yesterday on a Dell one day sale, a Vizio 20" VX200E 1080p LCD HDTV for $165. Bing 20% is supposed to bring it to $132 plus tax:

Dell - Vizio 20" VX200E 1080p LCD HDTV $165-$33 BCB = $132 + tax w/ FS

From what I read on Bing site, it's about a 2 month wait for the CB. Anybody regularly buying through Bing or negatives using them?

I've had one experience with Bing when I bought a Macbook Pro off eBay.

I followed the terms to the letter and was rewarded with a credit ("cashback") to my PayPal account, but I believe it took either 30 or 60 days for it to show up (can't remember off hand).

One thing I've read from other sites is that you will not get anything back if whatever you are buying doesn't require you to actually pay for the item at the time of the transaction.

An example is people trying to get the 35% cashback from T-Mobile when upgrading their phones. Since you are not actually charged at the time of the upgrade (they bill your T-Mobile account), Bing has taken advantage of this "loophole" to refuse payment. This wouldn't, however, apply to a "new" T-Mobile account as you are getting charged at the time of the transaction since you are a new customer and T-Mobile doesn't have a way to bill you later.

Good luck!

I bought a camera from Newegg by clicking through the Bing CB site. I tried to be very careful, making sure I went through the site, but once you hit Newegg, you don't see any confirmation that you are shopping through Bing. Anyway, I bought the camera, and after two days, the CB had not shown up. I emailed Bing, and I got a quick response that they would look into it. About every 5 days, I would get another canned response telling me that they were looking into it, how important my business is, etc. Still no $20 CB.

Finally, I get an email from Bing telling me that my purchase was ineligible. End of story, non-negotiable. Coincidentally, I was also just outside the period for returning the item.

Anyway, for $20, I took the risk. The camera was already a good deal, so the Bing CB would have been icing on the cake. Based on that experience, I have not been letting Bing CB be a decision making point in my shopping this season.

For the most part, it has been very good. For me, there were 2 instances where I did everything to the letter also, and was denied (I think one was for $15 and another for $40). I have purchased MANY things through this program and to date, I have received over $3K from M$ for buying things I would buy anyway. Just this morning I got $180 deposited from Bing and am waiting on another $400 within the next month.

The only crappy thing is that they do not have a way to call these folks for dispute resolution. A short call would iron out most issues, but with the many thousands of people running into problems like that, they would have to spend a LOT of money on this level of support.

The one time I've tried to use it at a regular vendor (Dell), I messed it up by trying to combine it with eBates. I got the eBates refund, but not Bing (no acknowledgment of the transaction whatsoever).

My eBay purchases have all been successful though. I've gotten a few e-mails stating they denied certain transactions (all for bogus reasons), but then a few minutes later they send me the cash through PayPal anyway. Weird. But now all my eBay transactions seem to be instant refunds which is nice.

Now there's a blast from the past. Had no idea that they even still exist.

bing with vendor sites is quite iffy, but on ebay, it's just pure money.

I've taken the bing rebates to the max ($2500/calendar year).

They do just what they say... do it...
