Mail filter question

Here's the scenario. I get forwarded emails from my brother. Some are amusing. Many are not. The ones that are not, are originated by...let's say...Mr. X. I want to create a filter that deletes any forwarded mail that includes Mr. X in the "original sender" line, but I don't see that option in Mail's filters. I don't want to filter every forward from my brother. I tried filtering for Mr. X in the "message content contains" menus, but that didn't do it.

Please don't bother with "ask your brother to stop forwarding mail from Mr. X", because it's not that important. Besides, I'm sure he just gets them and hits the Forward button, based on the long list of other recipients I see. By his own admission, he's not terribly computer literate.

Any ideas for filtering criteria that might do the trick?

I'm surprised the filtering using "Mr. X in the message content contains" didn't work, because I have a very similar rule set up and it works well. How do you have the space filled out? Let's say Mr. X is Charles Xavier at Xavier's School, and his email is "charles.xavier@xavierschool.edu"; how do you have the "move to trash" (or whatever) rule set up?

BTW, are we talking about Mail.app, or another email program?

Thanks for the quick reply. First of all, yes I am talking about Mail.app. Secondly, I basically copy/pasted the address from the From field of the Original Message. But now that you mention it, I see that the person's name is a hyperlink (is that term still used?) hiding the actual mailto address. Should I filter the actual address, and if so, do I include the words mailto?

I would initially try a filter with *just* his email address; e.g., < charles.xavier@xavierschool.edu> and test it.

If not, you may need to filter by his real name (e.g., "Charles Xavier" or, if his name is unique like my example here, just "Xavier" ).
