F/U to friend's apartment burglarized

she found a package in her mailbox. The name and address were on the package, but no stamp, no post office cancellation, no return address. Seems like someone placed the box in her mailbox. All documents were returned.

It turns out a neighbor was also burglarized at the same time, but that person was out of town for a few days and they managed to unlock the door without damaging the locks, so no one noticed they broke in until the owner returned a few days later.

Now they (my friend and the other victim) suspect another neighbor. She had an argument a few days earlier with that neighbor, apparently he hosts noisy parties and this causes some tension in the building. This also makes sense, since only a neighbor can tell for sure whose car is whose and know the work schedule and can tell when no one is home. Also, the main door was not forced. They stole 3-4 TVs from the other victim (along with laptops and jewelry). they also stole 2 laptops and a TV from my friend. It's hard to believe someone could take this out of an apartment building in the middle of the day without anyone asking questions.

Anyway, the whole thing is very suspicious. At least she recover her all her documents. As I mentioned earlier, most of those documents were from abroad and getting replacements would have been a nightmare.

And the police said... ?
One thing about TV. It's not real. Police usually like to hear about stuff like this. Going on your own investigative mission is dangerous. so call the boys in blue.

We had our caretaker come into our apartment about 30 years ago. I worked nights and was sleeping during the day when he came in using his key. I did not answer his knock. All he got was our phone which then was supplied by the phone company. He begged me to not call the cops and for some stupid reason I didn't...

----------------------
If they're like the police where I live they wrote up the required report and then said; "well, I hope you have insurance" . . . followed by - if you need a copy of my report it'll cost you $X.00

An awfully high percentage of break-ins are neighbors / friends/ relatives.
I wish whoever broke into my parents house 20 years ago and stole their old super 8 camera and all the reels of film would heave returned the reels of film.
