The good news is that Mythbusters has been renewed for 7 more years.

The other good news is the hot chick on effin' science is walking around in boots and short shorts.

yeah, but Mythbusters tests myths when they already know the likely result.

Case in point, the car driveshaft catapult. Racers have been required for decades to have driveshaft safety loops so the driveshaft doesn't drop during a U-joint failure and catapult the car. I have one on one of my cars. Greg's new to him Crown Vic Police Interceptor probably has one on it too. Most police cars do. Greg, go peek and report back.

Just search youtube for a while, I am sure there are vid clips of cars flopping over. I have seen it happen at the track, and a friend had his car do a hop and nearly twisted over onto his roof when he broke a U-joint yoke on his 72 340 4speed Challenger at the trasmission output shaft.

should be a loop in the middle of a crossbar between the frame rails of the car. Going through the loop, which is probably about 6-9" behind the tail of the transmission, will be the driveshaft.

If the front U-joint or the yoke breaks, the driveshaft can't drop, and dig into the asphalt and cause the car to flip either as a nose over, or more likely something like a shoulder roll over one front fender. The Caprice/Roadmaster cop cars have them. Heck, even the Roadmaster Estate Wagons have them.

With real torque come real responsibility.....
