ISO: the best roadside assistance service

I'm guessing that one of us here has either researched and/or purchased a service like this recently. What did you find and to which did you end up subscribing?

AAA Plus has 100 mile towing. Win.

I have AAA and have used it in town for a simple flat tire. No way am I going to risk ruining a work suit while changing a tire. AAA gets a guy in a very short period of time, the tire gets changed quickly and I'm on my way with my clothes ready for work still.

I also used it while in my father-in-laws car and it would not start. Called AAA and when the truck showed up the guy said it was just dirty battery terminals, cleaned it for us, and we were all on our way.

The tires on my wife's vehicle, a GMC Yukon Denali, are HUGE. With my bad back I'm not even sure I'm capable of changing one of her tires without hurting myself.

I have no comparison to other services but wanted to say I'm quite happy with AAA.

'Last time I tried to change a tire, the *&^%$# lug nut wrench that came with the car* turned out to be made of soft metal and bent in half on the first lug nut.

I called AAA and in a half hour they had someone there with an impact driver who had the tire changed in just over a minute. (I timed him.) He got a very nice tip that day.

I also vote for AAA. In addition to roadside assistance, you can get nice discounts on hotels and travel, which is sometimes enough to pay for the cost of the AAA roadside service.

I have Allstate RV RS with unlimited towing and a whole slew of other goodies. Had a piece of metal come thru my fuel tank in PA and they helped pay for my hotel and eats while awaiting repair.

It is a separate policy from my regular ins (which is USAA). Most add ons to regular policies are pretty limited.

I own an old '83 CJ that always breaks down when I am far away from home. It is a must.
