I dropped my fourth month old D200 in the ocean back in 2006, so I feel this guy's pain. It was a total loss, though I was able to sell it on ebay "as-is" for a few hundred.
Tough part was my father who reminded me how he told me not to take my new camera with me to the beach...

Homeowner's insurance might cover it. For something that expensive, it would be worth a call.

Apparently his memory card survived, so the headline should be more like, "How to lose $2360 in 24 seconds" contingent, of course, on the capacity of the card and when/where it was bought (ie, Newegg Black Friday deal, Amazon Prime, etc.).

(but I grew up spending Summers on the beach so I know not to trust water as far as you can throw it) Expensive way to learn about water, especially ocean water.
