I don't like family portraits as holiday cards.

For years I've been tempted to write a family letter that goes something like this:

Well, we're happy to announce that our daughter iS NOT pregnant. It was a false alarm from all the meth. Our son just got out of jail, so we're celebrating. He'll be on probation for a few years, so those of y'all with those guns and things, just stay away or he'll be back in the pokey again.

"Did you look at this picture carefully? Because I'm not sure, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I see a nipple..." - great episode (The Pick) Smile

Well I guess you won't be getting one from me this year!

I think for some families it is more an exercise to have a portrait done in the first place, they don't really care so much if you see it but at least this is a way to ensure they are formally documenting their lives.

The 2 I've received this year were both good quality photos of attractive family units & no one looked awkward or uncomfortable. I've seen several over the years that were able to produce an uncomfortable feeling, to downright shockingly horrible.

I think the overall quality of this type of card is directly proportional to the family dynamics & health of the family structure. A normal, well adjusted family is simply not going to send out a card that makes them look bad. It really is as simple as that.
