Speaking of Dads, it was year ago today...
#1
That my Dad passed, ten days short of his 97th birthday. A WW2 veteran who served in the Philippines and, tho we may have had our issues, as all dads and kids have, was an honorable man and a great father.
On the plus side, my youngest niece may deliver her first child today, which would be a nice offset to the memory of my Dad's passing and will give him his fourth great-grandchild!
God bless you, Dad.

Great pic.
Seems he lived a long and full life, and is remembered by the ones he loved. Can't ask for more than that.

I feel your pain. I lost my Dad back in 1987, he was only 72. Not a day passes that I don't think of him. As time goes by for you, only the goods things will be remembered.
Keep him in your heart.

i buried my mom a month ago.

i buried my dad 10 years ago.

fathers and sons are indeed complicated relationships.

as i deal with my current loss, i find myself thinking so much about my dad.

and i miss him.

sigh ;-(

i'm glad that you shared your "anniversary".

it offers me a light on my path.

thank you.

be well.

Nice photo and a fond rememberance, DP.

My father's first grandchild was born on the anniversary of his death, many years later. We considered it a good sign.

Nice photo. I love looking at WW2 pics of our fathers and grandfathers in their formal military dress. Something about these pics really stands out as the "Greatest Generation."

97 is a pretty good run. I had a couple patients pass away two weeks ago - 2 very sweet ladies, 93yo and 97yo.

Thx, all.
The one good thing was that he was in relatively good health and didn't suffer from debilitating disease. His brain was still sharp and it was simply old age that caught up with him. He had a good attitude saying that he had lived a good long life and was ready to go to meet my Mom who had died in '07.
