Kindle for Wife??? Any suggestions?
#1
My wife loves to read and thinking a Kindle might be a good Christmas gift for her this year (She only has an iPhone... not an iPad). So, which Paperwhite Kindle should I look at for her? She didn't ask for one... So, spending a crap load of $$$$ is not the best option.

Paperwhite is great. My wife loves hers. http://www.amazon.com/All-New-Kindle-Pap..._1?ie=UTF8&qid=1448048851&sr=8-1&keywords=kindle+paperwhite

Gotta get some sort of case for it too, but those aren't too expensive.

Id probably go with an iPad mini 2 for $200.

Get the experience of a full tablet plus it has the Kindle app. And the BN app, and several other reader apps. Plus magazines. Podcasts. etc...

Dont get me wrong, think the Kindles are great but iPad just gives her more.

The reading experience on the Paperwhite is incomparable.

You get more functionality with the iPad, but if it's really for reading, the Kindle is incredibly superior.

OKAY, BUT WHY ARE WE YELLING? Does she have an E Ink Kindle or Kindle Fire. Big difference between the two when it comes to reading.

Paperwhite vs iPad Mini is the right way to spec the decision. Really depends on the person.

My wife loves her kindle (and has a love hate relationship with her phone) so the kindle is right for her.

Beyond the clarity of eInk, a major kindle benefit is that she rarely has to charge it. She leaves it in our room or in the car or where ever and has no issue. iPads need a little more electron love.

If she likes to read on her iPhone, then the iPad mini 2 is a great buy. It's the best middle-size tablet out there for the price.

If she likes to read a real book, get the kindle. That's a true replacement for paperbacks etc.

I have a kindle, and I like it because it cannot do anything but be an ereader - but I have a big iPhone and an iPad. But if you wife doesn't have an iPad, getting a mini would be a bonus.

I love taking my kindle outdoors when I'm on vacation or it's a nice weekend. No iPad is as easy to use outside.
