![]() They sell over-roasted burnt coffee and wannabe coffee derivatives as status symbols to the insecure, needy, step above the class I'm actually in strivers . They sell faux PC correctness to the same sheep who are duped by slaves behind the counter being called "baristas" instead of what they are. The whole money making scheme is quite comical and it's not surprising they are making money hands over fist selling their "product" similarly to cosmetics at Macy's or Cherry and Webb to those needing to be something they are not.

Who cares? You're not forced to buy/drink it.
Besides, I like Starbucks: bought a lot of stock when it was a mere pittance and made a lot of money off of it over the years. Between increases and splits, it's done better than Lynch's "ten-bagger".

.......it is the only coffee chain really [ aside from DD ]......I mean there are a few small ones left.......but they oversaturate a neighbor [ kinda' like Barnes & Noble did ] and force smaller chains/stores out of business......then they have monopoly of what remains.....that being said like B&N, it wouldn't happen if people didn't 'allow' them to do it by going there....
......you go in and know what to expect which some people like......I don't hate/like them particularly......some locations have long lines though.....own the stock too and it has done well.....part of the price increase may be shortage of coffee so when coffee prices go up.....they have to raise their prices....

Why not ask the same thing about prices of coffee drinks at Dunkin Doughnuts? Or McDonalds? I'd rather know why a large carry out pepperoni pizza costs $14. Pizza costs have always astounded me.

That's why I love living in flyover country - large carryout pizza is $8, large coffee at DD is $2.
Never had a "coffee drink." Pam wrote:

Just wonder how much their prices can go up and business be good. Prices aren't going up by much. Some will fuss and then forget about it. As long as prices go up slowly like with everything else they will not lose customers. Some of their drinks haven't seen a price increase in a couple of years. |
