parts for European cars?
#1
I am being asked to look for a fuel pump for a 2005 Jetta TDI. I headed over to Rock Auto ...

So from this page I see several brands unknown to me, http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/volks...ump%2C6256

There's Üro (who?), Beck/Arnley, Hella, Airtex (who?), Spectra (who?), Delphi, Autobest (who?), Retech (who?)

The baseline part available locally is a Dorman 2630045 for $250 +$20 expedited shipping + tax; Amazon has it for about $100 less. Interestingly, that part is shown in a few places as fitting both the TDI and some gas engines. Rock Auto also has it but doesn't include it on the above page.

I'd avoid URO.

Looking for the in-tank pump

A few other places to look -
eeuroparts.com
fcpgroton.com
autohausaz.com
amazon.com
oreillyauto.com (with coupons)
napaonline.com
autozone.com (with coupons)

It's more stream of consciousness.

The closest VW dealership website pointed me to VW OEM parts. They have the tank fuel pump for $108.

For that price, why even bother with Rock Auto?

Guess we'll try that, thanks. Seems to include the whole assembly. Closest dealer (65mi away) tells me it's either $245 or like $500, depending on the VIN.

RA is good for clearance parts, but the shipping will usually put any savings into moot territory.* otherwise, I use FCP or EEuro, as they are just 90 miles from me and I can get parts virtually the next afternoon.

* I did score Brembo rotors for my car at $10/ea (with shipping it was like $20/ea, but still a bargain.)

FYI, fcpgroton.com is now https://www.fcpeuro.com/ Parts might be a little bit more expensive, but FCP offers an excellent lifetime warranty on all parts they sell.
