October non-surprise: Trump cheated on Melania

The WSJ (!) broke the story:

The company that owns the National Enquirer, a backer of Donald Trump, agreed to pay $150,000 to a former Playboy centerfold model for her story of an affair a decade ago with the Republican presidential nominee, but then didn’t publish it, according to documents reviewed by The Wall Street Journal and people familiar with the matter.

Honestly, "Trump had an affair" is definitely a dog-bites-man story. The only interesting things are 1) the story was quashed by a buddy of his that owns The Enquirer (apparently Enquiring minds didn't want to know), 2) the woman involved supposedly got the $150K for some unspecified "columns" (I think, although I'm not sure they were ever published), 3) she agreed to pay the Enquirer $150K if she gave the story to anyone else (a journalistic or tabloid technique apparently know as "catch and kill") 4) this was during Melanias tenure, and 5) why would a Playboy centerfold model want to hang out with a creepy old guy like Trump. Ew.

Trump campaign says this is all a lie, lie, lie. M'kay.

I wonder if it will turn out to be anything. This a.m. it seems to be debunked. But I still believe it. Heck, I'll believe anything he does if it isn't good or sane.

As I said, in the grand scheme of things, the story of an affair with a philanderer of Trump's ilk is not too surprising, but I wonder if this might release the floodgates:

Stephanie Clifford, a former adult-film actress, also claims to have had an affair with Donald Trump and was represented by the same Keith Davidson. She had reportedly been in talks with ABC’s Good Morning America to disclose the details of an affair she had with Trump, but cut off her contact midway for unknown reasons.

Perhaps 150,000 unknown reasons.
