Annihilation

Whoa, Annihilation!!!!
SciFi like I haven't seen it in years.
I feel like I felt after seeing 2001 a Space Odyssey for the very first time. Wow, that was 1968 at the Cinerama Dome in San Jose and my mind was effectively blown (OMG I just realized that was FIFTY years ago!!!).
Anyhow, words fail me. It was beautiful, surreal, at times terrifying but so thought provoking. I will be seeing it again and would love to hear what anyone else thinks about it.
I have one question. Why did the studios decide to bury this masterpiece in the dead days of February?

thanks for the reviews. I hadn't seen a single ad or mention of this movie, until some mixed reviews came out. Does look interesting.

....it is suppose to be a franchise, so a sequel may come.....there was some controversy of 'white-washing' characters......Natalie Portman's character is supposed to be asian mix but that fact wasn't revealed until the 2nd book so.........

The best review I saw called it what we'd expect if "Tarkovsky had directed... the Ghost Busters reboot". I thought it was a very good movie, with an amazing score. Very trippy and disturbing movie.

The reviews seem to be all over the map with this one.

Have not seen this one yet, may go this weekend if it is still in the local theatre. But one review on a discussion site was thinking it might not be a big success in its theatrical release, but may get to "cult movie" status in the streaming and disc market.

One more note, the sound track is an integral part of this film. I chose to wear the supplied earphones from the theater and I thought it greatly enhanced my experience.

Would the soundtrack not otherwise be audible to the audience?
